Overview
CRG opened its Child Resource Centre
(CRC) at Mapusa in a spacious flat on a rental basis. Children
working in the Mapusa market come to CRC every afternoon.
Functional literacy is imparted to the children. They are
also provided with snacks and have space to play. It is ideal
for holding medical check-ups, counselling sessions and showing
children audio-visual material. It is also appropriate for
holding training programmes.
Livelihood Training
At the CRC older children are taught
livelihood skills such as cycle repairs, two wheeler repairs,
jewellery making, tailoring, pottery etc. They are also taught
computer basics. This is to expose children to various possibilities
for improving their life chances, as these are activities
that have the potential for income generation.
Events
The Child Resource Centre provides the space for children
of the different schools to have combined programmes. Events
such as Children's Day are celebrated. Children who have done
well in their schools are felicitated.
